Dr Beverley Williamson specialises in competition law, sports law and general commercial matters. Her experience encompasses both contentious and advisory work, with a particular focus on complex regulatory and market-based disputes.

She holds a doctorate in Competition Law, and her research on competition law and professional rugby union, has been cited in the House of Commons.  Dr. Bev Williamson is one of fewer than 200 experts in the EU to combine PhD in Competition Law with public authority and private practice experience.

Having previously served as Head of Unit for Antitrust Investigations for a national competition authority, where she led complex investigations into alleged infringements of competition law, including cartel conduct, abuse of dominance and Phase 2 merger investigations, she also worked as a specialist advisor at a tier 1 corporate law firm in Dublin, advising on EU and domestic competition matters across multiple sectors.

Her experience includes merger control, State aid, public procurement, abuse of dominance and antitrust, including one of the European Commission’s earliest investigations into alleged labour market collusion.

Bev is also the founder of the European League of Sports Antitrust, an organisation that brings together leading practitioners and academics working in competition law and sport, and is a regular speaker at international conferences on competition law and sports regulation.

Since joining Kings Chambers Beverley has developed a broad and steadily expanding practice in general commercial matters. She has experience advising and representing clients across a range of disputes, including contractual claims, debt recovery and business-to-business litigation.
