The Legal Ombudsman (LeO)

If you are not satisfied with the final response to your complaint, or if we fail to respond to your complaint within eight weeks, you may have the right to complain to the Legal Ombudsman. This is the independent body that handles complaints about legal services.

The Legal Ombudsman will choose whether to look at your complaint based on specific time frames. You must refer your complaint to them within:

  • Six months of receiving our final written response to your complaint, AND

  • One year from the date of the act or omission you are complaining about, OR

  • One year from when you should reasonably have known there was cause for complaint.
